Billing
How to Update Your Payment Method
You can update your credit card or payment method at any time through the Stripe billing portal.
How to Update
- Go to the Account page.
- Click Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe billing portal.
- In the Stripe portal, click Update payment method or find the payment method section.
- Enter your new card details.
- Save the changes.
The new payment method will be used for all future charges. You don't need to cancel and re-subscribe.
When to Update
You should update your payment method if:
- Your card is expiring soon
- You received a "payment failed" notification
- You want to switch to a different card
- Your bank issued a replacement card with a new number
Payment Method Failed
If your payment method is declined when a subscription renewal is attempted, Stripe will retry the charge a few times over several days. During this period, your account stays on the paid plan.
If the retries also fail, your subscription status changes and your account may revert to the free plan. To fix this:
- Update your payment method using the steps above.
- If your subscription was canceled due to non-payment, you may need to re-subscribe from the Account page.
See What Happens If My Payment Fails? for details on the retry process and what happens to your account.
Receipts and Invoices
From the Stripe billing portal, you can also:
- View past invoices
- Download receipts for expense reporting
- See upcoming charges
