Supported Databases
DBEverywhere supports a wide range of database engines through two tools: phpMyAdmin and Adminer. When you connect, DBEverywhere automatically selects the right tool based on the database type you choose on the connection form.
Which Tool for Which Database
| Database Engine | Tool Used |
|---|---|
| MySQL | phpMyAdmin |
| MariaDB | phpMyAdmin |
| PostgreSQL | Adminer |
| SQLite | Adminer |
| Microsoft SQL Server | Adminer |
| Oracle | Adminer |
| MongoDB | Adminer |
phpMyAdmin
phpMyAdmin is used for MySQL and MariaDB connections. It is the most widely used web-based MySQL administration tool, with support for:
- Browsing and editing tables, rows, and columns
- Running SQL queries
- Importing and exporting databases (SQL, CSV, JSON, and more)
- Managing users, permissions, and privileges
- Creating and modifying indexes, views, triggers, and routines
Adminer
Adminer is used for PostgreSQL, SQLite, MS SQL, Oracle, and MongoDB connections. It is a lightweight but full-featured database management tool that supports:
- Browsing and editing data
- Running SQL queries
- Importing and exporting
- Managing tables, views, and schemas
- Working across multiple database engines with a consistent interface
You Don't Need to Choose
You never need to pick which tool to use. When you select a database type on the connection form, DBEverywhere routes you to the correct tool automatically. MySQL and MariaDB connections always go through phpMyAdmin. Everything else goes through Adminer.
